Backup and restore the operating system

What is the first software to install on a system, except 7zip? A backup utility that can create a copy of its system once it is installed stably, to be able to copy it, sector by sector, in case of problem, like for example a Windows corruption by a virus or a spyware (it happened to me, it's common, and these malicious software are always more aggressive).

I use PartitionSaving.

This software takes up little space and runs from a disk or a U.S.B. key, which allows it to save any operating system.

When a U.S.B key is used, it must be formatted to be bootable with a FreeDOS operating system. For this, you can use a utility specializing in U.S.B. key formatting like Rufus.

Once formatted, it copies the files needed to run Partition Saving under FreeDOS. In my personal case, I created several partitions on my hard drive. C contains my programs and the operating system. I use an E partition to save them. I also copy the backup to another hard drive. I carefully keep a startup key containing Partition Saving. It's very powerful when I need it, which fortunately does not happen often.

Restoring the entire system is not always necessary. If you just need to save and restore the registry, use the RegBak freeware. You can download it the tool page.
