At the top of the Grande Sassière, at 3747 meters above sea level.

The beginning of the hike offers a bird's eye view of the Chevril lake and Tignes.
August 20, 2017, I find myself with Pascal between Vanoise and Grand Paradis, in the French Alps, in front of the Mont Pourri, to climb the Grande Sassière,
3747 meters above sea level. The Aiguille de la Grande Sassière overlooks Tignes and Val d'Isère.
The beginning of the hike is delicate because, on site, there are many signs to go elsewhere, but not at the top of the Grande Sassière.
So, if you have good steps and are able to walk fast and cautiously to the top, in good weather,
and that there is no more snow or ice over 3000 meters above sea level, conditions that are present only a few days per year in the middle of the summer,
know that you have to go straight down the grassy slope without worrying about the lack of indications.
There, if you're in no hurry, you may be lucky, like me, to see an edelweiss.
This is obviously a protected species that should not be picked up, but you can take photos.

The grass sometimes hides wonders of nature. Give them all your attention and kindness.
Shift slightly to the left to take the hole in the rocks that will get around the other side by returning to the right and the summit,
climbing on the path between the glacier and the rock barrier, as the itinerary below indicates it with blue dots.
Be careful, do not go over the glacier, walk on the path at your side.

The top is at the top left on this picture. We can see the path to take,
between the glacier on the left and the cliff on the right.
In all cases, this hike is at high altitude. Although technically easy when the weather conditions are favorable, be careful,
paying attention to the risk of slipping on snow, ice, or even wet rocks, at the temperature and the weather,
that can change quickly and unpredictably. Take a warm garment, this will not be a luxury, and sticks if it secures you.
The breath begins to be short when I reach the final slope. One last effort staying focused, and I'm at the top.
The view is far, I can see the Mont Blanc.

The summit of the Grande Sassière offers a very wide point of view, especially on the Mont Blanc.
I go down on the same path as I climb. This allows me to see the Mont Pourri (3779m) and the glacier, which I leave on the right.
Through the gap in the rocks I turn left and I join the grass, I see Tignes in front of me then, finally,
I arrive at the car park to take a last breath of fresh air by, recovering from this magnificent miraculous incursion in high altitude.

Fantastic high mountain atmosphere, next to a glacier, and in front of the Mont Pourri.
